A day in DC

"Drop us off at the White House!," we said gleefully as we bundled into coats and got in the car.  Tiffany and I were off for a day in DC with a loose agenda of monuments and museums... and maybe coffee with Mr. President.

We walked from the White House to the World War I memorial, to the Lincoln Memorial, along the frozen reflection pool to the World War II Memorial and the Washington Monument.  Then down the Capital Mall to try out some camera tricks in front of the Natural History Museum, across the street to the National Archives, and back down the mall to the Capitol Building.  We watched the sun set to the left of the Washington Monument, and hopped in a cab to warm up with a glass of wine and amazing food at Founding Farmers.

It was so fun to have a full day with such a lovely friend, taking our sweet time and gasping over how beautiful the light was in the Lincoln Memorial.  We started taking pictures of each other jumping across the steps under President Lincoln's watchful eye, and a group of tourists from Pennsylvania joined in the fun.  Spontaneously sharing some laughter with 5 strangers on a Sunday afternoon was the highlight of the day for me.
